Vermilion, Alta. – On Dec. 16, 2020 at approximately 10 am Vermilion RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and two highway road workers on Highway 16, west of Mannville.

Two males from Emcon Services were working in the eastbound lane when they were struck and injured by a vehicle travelling eastbound on the highway.

A 58-year-old was transferred via STARS to an Edmonton Hospital and a 50-year-old was transported by ambulance to Vermilion Hospital and then to Edmonton for further care.

The 25-year-old driver of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries.

Alberta Occupational Health and Safety has been notified of the incident.

Traffic was re-routed for several hours while police and an RCMP Collision Analyst investigated.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
