Two Hills RCMP Lay 15 Charges From Stolen Vehicle Tip

Andrew, Alta. – On April 24, 2020, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Two Hills RCMP were called to a report of a stolen truck in Andrew.

 

The stolen truck was reported to have been involved in a hit-and-run and was located on Township Road 584 where it had driven into a washout and become disabled. The truck had been reported stolen from a business in Lamont County earlier in the day.

With the assistance of the Vegreville and Smoky Lake RCMP Detachments, Vermilion/St. Paul Traffic Services, RCMP Police Dog Services and RCMP Air Services, two suspects were tracked and located hiding in the rafters of a building on a farm approximately four kilometres away.

 

Justin Gervan (27) of Lamont County was charged with:

 

  • Driving while prohibited
  • Dangerous driving
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Fail to remain at the scene of a collision
  • Fail to comply with a release order
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine
  • Mischief to property

Mackenzie Thornton (28) of no fixed address was charged with:

 

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine
  • Breach of a probation order
  • Mischief to property
  • Resist arrest
  • Assault police officer

Both accused were remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and will be appearing in Vegreville Provincial Court on May 4, 2020 via CCTV.
