Alberta RCMP Investigate Homicide in Smoky Lake

Smoky Lake County, Alta.- On Oct. 15, 2021, at approximately 6:20 p.m., Smoky Lake RCMP responded to a call to assist Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with a possible sudden death. Smoky Lake RCMP and EMS attended a residence in Mons Lake, located in Smoky Lake County. EMS declared one person deceased on scene.
Smoky Lake RCMP’s investigation into the death of the 52-year-old female from Smoky Lake to have been suspicious. As such, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes attended and took over carriage of the investigation. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit, along with the assistance of Smoky Lake RCMP and RCMP Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate this suspicious death.
An autopsy was completed by the Edmonton Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the manner of death is homicide.
