There are healthy habits and supplements that might help boost a person’s health.

Health Prep states that a person’s immune system is the body’s natural defense system that destroys bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses that cause infection and disease. The immune system is made up of a network of cell tissues, and organs that work together to defend the body.

This website and other websites also mention that eating certain foods is one of the best ways to boost a person’s immune system. Some of these foods are citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit, tangerines, and clementines which contain antioxidants that can help prevent a cold before it happens. Other foods that contain vitamin c include sweet potatoes, papaya, broccoli, brussel sprouts, and butternut squash.

As well, foods that contain selenium can also boost the immune system. These could be Brazil nuts, oats, seafood, liver, wheat germ, bran, tuna, onions, and brown rice.

Other foods that help your immune system are blueberries, dark chocolate, oily fish, garlic, ginger, chicken noodle soup, tea (green or black tea), mushrooms, bell peppers, yogurt, spinach, turmeric.

It is also essential to drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day.

Then some immune-boosting products or remedies it is suggested that might help are echinacea, elderberry, colloidal silver, probiotics, herbs, astragalus’s root, zinc, essential oils such as myrrh, oregano, and vitamin B6, vitamin e and glutathione.

Exercise is important as well. The Guardian states adults should be physically active in some way everyday, and do at least 150 minutes a week of moderate aerobic activity (hiking, gardening, cycling, or 75 minutes of vigorous activity (running, swimming fast, or aerobics class.)

Other suggested ways to improve immune system function that numerous sites mention are: reduce stress, limit alcohol consumption, and learn to enjoy life to the fullest.
